
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU), and its co-hosts for the International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON) 2025, gathered today, May 27, 2025, at Hotel de Fides, Tacloban City for a Co-Host Collaboration Meeting as SSU joins forces with this year’s iPOVCON co-hosts, the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) and Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev).
SSU President Dr. Redentor Palencia, alongside university officials including Engr. Mirador Labrador, Dr. Sherrie Ann Labid, Dr. Vivian Moya, and Engr. Raven Tabiongan engaged in discussions with the representatives from BiPSU and DEPDev. Attendees from the co-hosts included Dir. Meylene Rosales and Atty. Jam Colas-Villaber from DEPDev, as well as Dr. Ronald Niez and Dr. Pearl Irish De Paz from BIPSU.
The meeting covered essential topics such as the Conference Syllabus, roles and responsibilities, MOA inputs and details, formation of working committees, budgetary requirements, and other critical concerns. The collaborative discussions aimed to streamline planning efforts, ensuring a successful iPOVCON 2025.
With the groundwork established, SSU and its co-hosts reaffirmed their commitment to advancing dialogues along poverty alleviation and sustainable development, and fostering meaningful collaborations through the upcoming conference.
